    "Overall we enjoyed our overnight stay in the hotel. It is in a perfect location for the places we wanted to visit in London. The hotel staff are very helpful and our room was clean and comfortable, although perhaps in need of some modernisation. The room rate seems pricey for the this standard of hotel, although not excessive compared to other hotels in London!" (97762352)

    Excellent location - near underground stations and tourist attractions. Friendly and helpful reception, restaurant and bar staff.

    Some of the decor needs updating - e.g. broken tiles in bathroom, although I understand the hotel is still in the process of being modernised. We were in a Smoking room so as non-smokers we noticed some staleness in the room. I do not remember if we had the opporunity to request non-smoking rooms - it was not mentioned on the booking confirmation.

    "I was surprised to find out that when I arrived I didn't have the room I thought I had booked online - the hotel never received the booking. This was disappointing because you don't expect to travel into London and not have a hotel booked. The staff were excellent with it though and provided my room with free breakfast for the inconvenience." (97383496)

    It was quiet and the bed reasnably comfortable. I felt welcomed by the staff and am encouraged to stay alone again.

    It was tatty and lacked the simplest things like somewhere to hang a towel.

    cheap

    staff at check in was not very friendly and unpolite; check out was ok. Room was shabby and needs updating, very noisy. They didn't have a non-smoking room available.

    "As a woman alone the fact the hotel did not have a restaurant was a little disconcerting. I therefore had to go out alone to eat in a city I don't know. The lighting in the hotel was extremely dim and the toilet in my room did not work. Infact it the cistern was broken so there was a constant sound of running water. After 2 phonecalls someone eventually came to have alook at it. Not being able to fix it they decided to move me to another hotel as they had no room left. They agreed to pay the taxi fare and the hotel bill. The taxi insisted on more money when I got out and the hotel I was moved to asked for my credit card even though I explained the Thistle Bloomsbury park was paying. It was a disaster. I will never ever stay there again nor recommend it!!!" (1857574)

    "I was unable to book a double room online, but thought I had, so our first night was in a tiny single. Afterwards, the double room became available. I liked the location of the hotel (near Tottenham Court Road Underground and the British Museum) and think you could promote this aspect of the hotel more opening on the Internet." (1374318)
