"Very good, and good value at £65 over the internet. Not sure if I would be so impressed with value for money if paying £85/105 rate." (108066138)
Clean, friendly staff, impressed with overall hotel experience, bed comfortable and good buffet breakfast
Not well sound-proofed, noise between rooms, iron non-functional and leaking water

The staff on the reception desk were warm and friendly and seemed genuinely happy to help. My check in was quick and easy and all questions asked were answered with a smile. Room was clean, tidy and of a general high standard. The shower room was also spotless and had a clean, fresh feel.

"A very pleasant hotel with friendly staff, quite close to the train station. My room was very clean and comfortable and the rate was certainly reasonable." (99466736)
Very helpful staff
It was quite difficult locating the hotel as one might not expect a hotel in the middle of a university campus.

I would have liked a DVD player in the room or Sky tv.

"overall stay was very good. only one query, well not a query as such, when i booked online it confirmed the booking in which i assumed i had paid for my stay. however on check out i was asked to pay, which i explained i thought i already had. the receptionist informed me that thay do not touch any cards from online bookings, which is fine, but it was a bit confusing. overall though, very good." Accomodation was very homely

"I find it comfortable and friendly staff. Good late bar food and availability of tea, coffee etc. everywhere. Good central sitting areas with fruit and croissants available in the daytime. Assorted mix of guests but easy to stay there as a single person." (97968425)
Clean with good facilities. Good selection of different teas
Difficult to find way out - room long way from lifts and stairs led nowhere!

The hotel is in a very convenient area for visiting Birmingham city for shopping as well as gigs at the Carling Academy. It is just a 10 minute walk into the centre. I also liked the wide choice of food and drink for breakfast which all tasted great and you could eat as much as you wanted.
I disliked the noise from what I can only think was from the boiler system which seemed to be on throughout the night and also the bed was quite hard and uncomfortable.

The staff were friendly and welcoming. The food was excellent and the value for money was very good.
The bathroom was very small and I am a large man. I found it difficult to move around in the bathroom

"To find a venue situated on a university campus which offered such a high standard of accomodation, comfort and services was most unexpected. I don't think the information available on the website does the hotel justice and I originally only booked my room for convenience in an area with which I was unfamiliar and also because I was attending a conference at the business school. Thankyou for making my , albeit short, stay very comfortable." (97297122)
I was very suprised at the high standard of accomodation and services offered at the hotel.

The coffee machines with the cookies in the living room were very cool. All the decoration around this area is really nice, modern and confortable. It was a very good choice." (97948195)

"Although I did not require parking facilities many of my colleagues did and had a lot of problems finding parking. It would have been better to see what the standard rooms looked like as they are quite small and I think I would have spent the extra money on a superior room if I had been staying for longer." "I was very impressed. Not having been to that part of Birmingham before, I had trouble finding the hotel initially. However, once there I enjoyed my stay thoroughly. The meal was of a very high standard and the staff very attentive. My only problem now is that I tried to book again for a weekend break in July and haven't been able to locate the hotel on either of the websites recommended by your receptionist." (99963284)
I was very impressed with the standard of the room for the price paid.
The only slight critisism would be the TV, which wasn't tuned in properly and had a slight flicker on the picture. This was no big dela though.

"I booked this hotel because it is walking distance from the train station. Those who wish to go to Villa Park to watch a soccer game (like what I did) should stay at this hotel. The only issue is the room that was assigned to me was quite a distance from the reception and lift lobby. A nearer room could have been assigned." (99855132)

"The accommodation is fairly new and modern. There was 24 hour check-in - which I needed due to working late. Car parking was available on site and it was possible to walk into Birmingham City Centre. Bed comfortable, shower worked well, room clean and a very good 'help yourself' breakfast. What more could you need?" (99000751)
Car Parking, 24 hour check-in, walkable to City Centre, NOT near Broad Street (a no go area at weekends if you need to sleep!)

"The establishment, being on the Aston University campus, is rather awkwardly situated for the rest of the City centre (a bit far to walk, not far enough to be worth catching a bus). Like many such places it is probably best suited for car owners, not public transport users like myself. There was an unacceptable level of noise from nearby rooms, especially on Friday night when, in view of my planned early start the following day, I had gone to bed early. Better soundproofing would not have come amiss! And signs inside the bedroom doors asking for quiet after, say, 11.00 p.m., would be a cheap solution in the meantime. The fire instructions inside the bedroom door (there were three of them) were all stuck on top of each other and therefore could not be read. If there had been a fire, I don't know what I should have done! My problem with the shaver socket was hopefully unusual, but I hope the centre manages to find out how to deal with such problems 24/7 in future. Apart from this, staff were universally helpful, but I got the impression that some staff in this fairly new facility were still learning their jobs. The general impression was a good one, with minor glitches which ought to be well within the management's capability to solve." (99533280)
Reasonable value, clean room and facilities, willingness to provide a cold breakfast at the unearthly hour of 0530!
Shaver socket only worked fitfully, receptionist was unable to call an electrician as it was Sunday (but the chambermaid did manage to help although it was certainly not her job).

Secure, comfortable city centre accommodation with parking and excellent breakfast in a quiet restaurant.
The room was small and a long way away from reception. I arrived very late at night and tired so walking through lots of corridors and double doors was a nuisance.

"A fire alarm disrupted our second nights stay causing us to evacuate the hotel. No problem there. No fire department attended and our safety being left to a couple of campus security officers unnerves me! That policy alone would cause me never to stay at a university campus facility again. A fire alarm, no fire department, no regard for our health and safety. Furthermore, no explanation or apology at checkout." (99262921)
The accommodation was clean and well appointed.
For a Superior room, the bed and the room were on the small side. The bed was not comfortable, having what felt and sounded like a cardboard base. The in room book had a menu in it which turned out to be only an adequate but limited room service menu (the fact that it was only a room service menu was not obvious). It ended up costing £42 for a nouveau cuisine style dinner (you know-large plate, hardly any food with drips of sauce squirted on it!). That was crap, though the service was excellent and mature. Breakfast was great one morning, but green eggs and ham were the order of the second day.
